Career
It was a long and meandering way for me – the way into the world of music, but I could also say, it was still the beginning…… I made the first steps more then 25 years ago, with a violine in my hands, walked through the ancient church orthodox music and stepped for the first time on the opera stage at The State Musical Academy in Sofia.
Now I think, it was not the most important part of the way for me. I believe – it was may be a chance, but also a destiny to meet and to work under the guidance of the world famous Bulgarian bass Nicola Ghiuselev, one of the greatest present-day singers for me. More than 3 years he was my Master, my friend, my neighbour, my giude and even a kind of parent – the Teacher in a great scool of perfection, creativity and artistic taste. A performer with an unusually extensive repertoire, he discovered for me the beauty of the timbre, the importance of the expressive acting and the deep analysis of every character. Ghiuselev left behind plenties of significant performances at the scenes of Covent Garden, La Scala, Vienna Staatsoper, Bolshoi Theatre, Rome Opera, making each of his roles memorable. He used all the advantages of a top singer along with his unusual painting talent, creating an exact and completely true picture at the stage. And he took me through the bass repertoire, searching and following an unique and characteristic interpretation.
Now I have the possibility to work in Germany, a country with more than 2500 opera theatres. It?s a great experience – to make so many new titles each season, to gain a knowledge about numerous German authors, to come on the stage among talented colleagues from all over the world……. I admire the taste for experiment and the spirit of contemporarity by interpreting such exclusively classical works of art like those in the opera! I?m absolutely in love with the German audience and truly convinced: it?s an honour to sing for such a tolerant, grateful and positive public!
